OOC: No idea where I'm actually going with this, I just wanted to post something in our poor, neglected Daedalus!
Ronon paced the short distance from the head of his bunk, backing into one corner of the small room, to the wall facing opposite (two and a half strides; he'd unconsciously begun counting it in his head). Reaching the other side, he turned and paced back, retracing his footsteps.
Forty-eight hours into the Daedalus' five day long journey, and already Ronon was finding the monotony difficult to bear.
It was ironic, when he thought about it. He'd spent seven years of his life constantly on the move, never staying on the same planet for longer than a week. Now, finally, Ronon had been given the chance that he'd long since given up waiting for. He was a free man. He could go - or stay - wherever he wanted with if not none, that at least no more danger of being attacked by the Wraith than anybody else in this galaxy. He could be around other people without the fear that he would bring a squadron of darts down upon them.
There had been nights, long ago now, when Ronon had lain awake and thought back wistfully to some far distant summer day on Sateda spent lazing beneath the hot sun on the shores of the Shulan river.
And yet now that he had the freedom to do or not do whatever he wanted - now that he could settle down, laze around, relax - he found himself unable to do so. He found himself growing restless when he didn't have something to occupy himself with; retiring each night to the same sleeping quarters still set him somehow ill at ease.
And as far as waiting went - well, it had never been one of Ronon's strong suits to begin with.
All of this made for one very tense, very restless Satedan.
On impulse, Ronon made for the door. He didn't have any particular idea of where he was going but an instinct deep in his gut, the one that still ruled his actions, was urging him to keep moving.
Ronon always listened to his instincts. After all, they had kept him alive for seven years and counting.
He opened the door and strode out into the corridor.

2nd Lt John Malcome got out of his bunk that he had been sleeping in. John was on the latest shipment from earth, along with another few Atlantis bound people from what he could gather. He had been on the Daedalus for 2 days now, using his talent for rapid learning to read up on what had been encountered by teams from Atlantis, technology, ships. He was especially interested in the “Puddle Jumpers”which to his astonishment could cloak. He was reading everything he could find on them from the ships database. He was also reading the Lord of the Rings series over again, John had seen the movies, but never read the books, and he was about half way through first one. It had been interesting, reading about Puddle Jumpers, Stargates, Golem, and the Wraith, for the first 10 hours, but it had just gotten boring. John had decided to familiarize himself with everything possible, so he wouldn't be surprised when he got there, but it was to the point where he was reading, but nothing was registering. He decided to take a walk, and get something to eat. He got up and put on a black t-shirt and a pair of jeans, he was considered a Civilian on the Daedalus, the USAF ran it so he had no real power, and therefore no reason to actually put on any sort of duty uniform. He walked out of his minuscule quarters and out into the hallway. He pulled out his PDA and looked up a map, he followed the hallway right until he came to an elevator. John pressed the button and waited. Then an elevator came and the doors opened some time later.
He walked out into the hallway and followed it until he reached to mess. John immediately noticed that it was deserted, save for a few people in civvies, he assumed they were on their way to Atlantis also. He walked over to the food area and got a BLT and a coffee, then walked over to a seat so that he could look out into space through a window and waited. He heard a sound, and looked over, and saw someone enter the Mess.
